Here at The Graduate Junction we value your privacy. This policy describes the way in which we collect and manage information which you supply to the site or which is collected automatically. If you have any questions about this policy please feel free to contact us through the site. This policy does not cover any other website which our site may contain links to and we encourage you to read the Privacy Policy of any other sites which you visit.
Information you provide
In order to access the majority of services on The Graduate Junction we require that you register to create an account. To do this you will be asked to provide a name and an email address as well as selecting a password. Once you have entered the site you will have the option to create a personal research profile page which can contain information including, but not limited to, your university, some basic course information, an overview of your work and any publications you have. Although we try and encourage people to take an active role in The Graduate Junction to create a sense of community, supplying this extra information is entirely optional. You can choose to leave your profile blank and remain a passive member of The Graduate Junction.
For listing providers on The Graduate Junction no further personal information is required after registration. Additional information in the form of graduate degree positions, conferences or job listings may be uploaded by you at any time.
What we do with this information?
The only required pieces of personally identifiable information are your name and email address and we take great care not to disclose this email address to anybody on the The Graduate Junction.
For members of the Graduate Junction community, other members viewing your profile pages will have the option to email you via our double-blind messaging system but will not be shown your email at any time. We encourage members to safeguard their own personal security and not to disclose their email to other members by posting it on their profile page or by putting it in the body of a message. The Graduate Junction is also configured, by default, to send several automatic email alerts to the address you supply relating to site activity which we feel you may be interested in. If you wish not to receive these messages then you can edit your contact options by following the link in the sidebar on your profile page.
Additional information supplied by you, including your course information, is visible to other Graduate Junction members on your public profile page in order to facilitate the formation of links and collaboration. This information is not visible to any person who is not logged in to The Graduate Junction or who is logged in as a listing provider.
For listing providers, the information you provide in the listing sections will be viewable by all registered members of The Graduate Junction including other listing providers.
Information collected automatically
When you visit The Graduate Junction, as with almost every other web site you visit, the server automatically gathers some information about your visit. None of this information identifies you personally. This information includes the IP address from which you accessed The Graduate Junction, the type of browser and operating system used to access The Graduate Junction, the duration of your visit and the pages you view. If you linked to The Graduate Junction from another web site then the address of that other site is noted. This information is really useful to help us make the site better and see what are users are most interested in.
In order to do this we have decided to use Google Analytics which request that we include this statement here

Third parties
We may share with third parties certain pieces of aggregated, non-personal information, such as the total number of members or listings in a particular field or how many visits The Graduate Junction receives. We may, occasionally, work with other companies or organisations to try and improve our services. At that time, we may give trusted businesses or persons access to some personal information provided we feel it is necessary to help us improve our services.
Updating or removing personal information
Members of The Graduate Junction can, at any time, log into their account and edit their personal information. Additional information can, be removed from a profile page and the contact email address can be changed.
All registered members and listing providers may have their accounts deleted. If you decide you would like your account completely removed from our system, please email us from the address which you used during the registration process requesting that your account be deleted and that all other related database entries are removed. We will carry out this procedure within 30 days of receiving your request.
Changes to this policy
Please note that this Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Policy without your explicit consent, and we expect most such changes will be minor. Regardless, we will post any Policy changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain services, email notification of Policy changes). Each version of this Policy will be identified at the top of the page by its effective date, and we will also keep prior versions of this Privacy Policy in an archive which can be viewed upon request via email.
